Hi, I wanted to share an interesting (at least to me) observation.
The unspoken cooperation of opposites in high-rated FFA is widely known and essential to practice if one desires to move up the ranks. What's interesting to me is the striking similarity of this "teaming" to monopolistic competition - something I'm perusing in my AP Econ class. Antitrust laws forbid companies from fixing prices, but there is the unspoken agreement to maintain mutual benefit by keeping prices above a certain threshold. I find that chat rules on the server are analogous to antitrust laws, preventing outright suggestion of moves, but to ensure best chances of survival, the players gravitate toward helping their opposites.
