Move 15 - Candidate Discussion

Sort:
val08

Okay, we should probably try to narrow down to as few candidates as possible (unless they pop up later as a stronger move). In fact, if you find a move is strong in your analysis and someone else agrees it should be looked at, create a new topic titled 15...Rb1 or whatever the move is. In it, you or any other member can repost the discussion and analysis for that move in that topic. Other than that, if the move doesn't look too strong, post the analysis here. This topic is only for mediocre discussion to determine candidates. It should die down quickly once it's our turn and real analysis should be in the appropriate topic. Also, please remember to post a plan/explanation of your variation whenever possible.

dsarkar

How about beginning the discussion before her move?

We know HER candidate moves... so we can decide on OUR candidate replies, and post them within hours of our turn. Time is very important... Unless we have LOTS of members here, our success rate will fall with delay...

val08

Yeah, we should begin discussion now and once it's our turn, the move topics can be create immediately.

dsarkar

We can do this:

create an index here for the differenct subvariations, e.g.:

15.Ned5 Nxd5

15.Ned5 Bxd5

15.Ned5 Qd8

15.Nf5 Bxf5

15.Nf5 Rfe8

15.Ncd5 Nxe3

15.Nxc4 Bxc4

15.Nxc4 Qxc4

15.g4 Nxe3

Then link each to individual move topice, e.g.: 15...Nxd5

Coach_Valentin

I advise against deleting "obsolete topics" -- because they may contain useful ideas we want to refer back to later.

val08

The sub-variation list is a good idea. The only concern I have about making topics for Natalia's moves is that we will have too many topics to browse through. I think we should keep discussion for her moves in this thread and once it's our turn, then we can create topics for our moves alone (15... topics).

val08

Thanks D3V1L. I assume you meant 15. Ned5. Here's a semi-updated index including the main-line that dsarkar posted in the actual game:

I've formated it like this [name][type][creator's comment]

Not sure if [type] is any useful but feel free to ignore these when updating the index.

->15.Ned5 Nxd5 16.Nxd5 Qd8 17.b3 Nb6 18.Nxe7 Qxe7 19.Ba3 Rc6 20.Re2 ( threatens Rd2) [D3V1L][Exchange Variation][this is very active for white...]
->15.Ned5 Nxd5 16.Nxd5 Bxd5 17. Qxd5 Nb6 18. Qb3 Nd7 19. c3 Nc5 20. Qc2 Ne6 21. Be3 Bg5 22. Bxg5 Nxg5 23. Bg4 Ne6 24. Re3 Rfd8 25. Rd1 [dsarkar+savyma][Exchange Variation]

->15.Ned5 Bxd5

->15.Ned5 Qd8 16.b3 (also prepares for pushing c4) Nb6 18.Ne2 (18.Qd3 Qc7 (18...Rfd8) 19.Bb2) [D3V1L][Non-exchange variation][white is ready to push c4 and Ng3...]

->15.Nf5 Bxf5

->15.Nf5 Rfe8

->15.Nf5 Bd8 16. Qd3 Re8 17. h3 g6 18. Ng3 h5 19. Nd5 Nxd5 20. exd5 [MostWanted147]

->15.Ncd5 Nxe3

->15.Nxc4 Bxc4

->15.Nxc4 Qxc4

->15.g4 Nxe3

 you are a creative player, as always been, please can you accept the work of doing so?

Sure you can post diagrams, links, pictures, whatever you need!

The index is a great idea by dsarkar, but we don't need to put all the weight on his shoulder. You can just post your line alone and someone else will add it to the index. Or you can add it to the index yourself and repost it. Smile

 Lol, just copy and paste the index and add your line. Or you can just do what you did on post #11. (I've already added your variation to the index if you didn't notice Wink)

 unfortunately i did not notice and could not find it, besides i pasted the line from my diagram, they will not work as a link or index.

Coach_Valentin

Is the discussion now proceeding here or elsewhere?

To me, the Exchange variation is most appealing, though I'd consider improving it further with 17...Qc6 (instead of 17...Nb6, which akin to saying "Nc4 was a poor move", which I don't believe is true) after two rounds of exchanges on d5.

As I'll be going to bed soon, when you tally the votes here, please consider my vote for 15...N:d5.  The alternatives as presented above are way too defeatist, and unnecessarily so, in my opinion.

cfrench49

Right now she has control of the center with her knigt at d5 and the threat on our queen. What's the alternative to protecting that queen? Either Nxd5 or Bxd5. What piece do we want to exchange. I'm probably the least experienced, so if you don't mind, I'll offer my choice as Nxd5.
