Move 4. Discussion

Discuss your ideas and preferences for move 4. here.

I am a little more agnostic toward the move choice this move and am perfectly fine with the 0-0 that will likely win voting. I think I lean a little more toward c5, but expect c5 to be playable next turn as well.

One thing that would benefit this discussion more is typical lines after 0-0. It's hard to predict what he'll play next as he is almost evenly split between Bd3 Nge2 and Nf3 in his history (and add in that he may pick something else entirely).

Yes, this move is probably already decided, so worth planning ahead. This is going to be an uphill struggle, as I see little indication of consensus on a discussion led decision process.

yes... that is a good point. I think a lot of the people who say to postpone (me included) mean "wait as long as you can" but for some that instruction just doesnt gel (it makes sense to me because ill sign in 5 or 6 times over the course of the day), but for someone who usually visits once per day or less, if they are heeding the wait to vote remark, they would probably like to hear when to come back. We can try settling at definite amoung of hours to wait. That way the broadcasts would look more like

Please wait to vote to allow more analysis and consensus. Voting will resume at 2:00 PM GMT (4 hours from now).

@elroch - i agree, and this may be a false hope, but I have hope that that decision process will come into more fruition after the opening (it would be very hard to steer a group of a >1000 away from 1...Nf6). I think now it is better to spend time managing the general layout of the position (e.g. making sure people buy into the nimzo before move 3. ... or making people understand the idiosyncracies of 4... c5... which i think the group has been doing), and in the absence of clearly defined leaders (e.g. Team VC captains on a Team/Group) allowing leaders to emerge naturally (you'll notice people starting to repeat sometimes verbatim specific higher rated players analysis and comments consistently over time).
