Music During Online Tournaments

I have just joined the USCF Members Only Club, and as such, will likely play my first online USCF tournament soon. Am I allowed to play music in the background during these tournaments? If I am, are there any restrictions (eg. it can't be from my computer, it must be instrumental, etc.)?

I think so, as long as it's not music about chess

If you are playing OTB, the answer is no! Every OTB Tournament Director that I have had over the past two years has strictly forbade electronic devices, down to and including your smart watch! Online, I don't know how they can stop you.

OTB, absolutely agree.

Certainly if competing online in prize tournaments, use Proctor, one or more video cams, and follow all rules.

If casual online, "ambient rain" is soothing and drowns out background sounds.

Just open a separate window for music or use another device for the music
