Some mistakes, but congrats to your win!
My Best Blitz
I was trying to do a Reti opening in that game, and he was playing some sort of a Slav Defence, in case anyone was wondering. You're probably waaaay ahead of me tho'.
Yes, indeed. Were there any really glaring ones you spotted, that you think the review should have pointed out to me, 'cos it didn't point any out to me? I'm trying hard to work on misses, mistakes and Blunders, to eliminate as many as I can over time. Inaccuracies I don't mind as much at the mo'. I'll probably export it to a Lichess analysis later, to see if it comes up with mistakes, or more misses.
The Lichess analysis tool thinks that bishop move 13.Be3 was more than a miss, but in fact a Blunder, seriously worsening my position, which shows you that it's worth getting a few opinions on your game.
(19.Rh4 was the Mistake, an error in judgement, rather than a missed opportunity to improve a position, as far as I know)
For anyone looking to analyse their own games, I thought this video for <2000 elos, by GM Noel Studer was really good. It's about organising a training plan, but about 14mins in he talks about analysing games ( and how not to tie yourself up in knots doing so).
Lichess is very strict. If you made a good move ,it says it i s an inaccuracy. If you made an inaccuracy it is a mistake or even a blunder for Stockfish
Well, that's good to know, @ because it can be a bit of a downer, sometimes, when you see mistakes and blunders littered everywhere. The piece of advice I follow for under 2000s, from Noel Studer's recommendation ( in the vid I posted here) was to not worry about inaccuracies too much, if one's a low elo, because, apart from anything else, you'd be there all day analysing, and get confused about what actionable takeaways you want from the analysis session.
Guys n' gals, I'm terrible at Blitz (200ish elo), and find it very hard to not get timed out while choosing my usually terrible moves. However, I'm trying to improve, so I look at my games afterwards and see where I went wrong. I thought we'd all like a place where we can analyse specific time control games, like Blitz, together.
So, here's one of my best Blitzes so far, in that a) I didn't get checkmated in two moves.
My first of 2 missed moves was taking this bishop, which seems so obvious now, but instead I tried to line my queen up behind the bishop for taking it. Why? That's what I have to fix. Why was I thinking like that, when it was a free bishop, with no consequences?
b) I didn't get timed out for taking too long in a 3/2 Blitz game.
My opponent was only a 100ish player, and I thought they did very well, considering that. I missed at some important points in the game, but hey, I'll take a win as a good thing, if I didn't fail at a) or b), above.
My move 19.Rxh4 was a miss as well, and the engine shows what position their best move would result in, and the whole line expands, which is something I learn a lot from, though I don't always like the look of the alt lines, just for how difficult they are for me to calculate myself.
Even given the Blitz time control, I should be able to improve on this, I think, if I keep reviewing my games. If anyone sees anything else really obvious (and I haven't worked through the alt lines for this yet) do tell me, and I'd love to help you analyse your games, or discuss them, too, if you think I could be of any help in the comments below). Feel free to post Blitz games of your own, and we'll get stuck into analysing them, to improve and learn together, or if you're a whizz on tactics, this would also be the place to shine a light for others to follow! Here's the full game with Luis. Thoughts? Your Blitz games and/or analysis? Feel free to comment and share stuff.
