My chess variants: 戰棋 - War chess (I'm so bad at English lol)

Umm... This is another variant that I made, and it's pretty confusing, but it's not so bad. If you like the variant, you can play it yourself (with your DIY board).

Ok. Let's begin!

1. Set up

Pieces are divided into two different coloured sets. While the sets may not be literally red and black, they are always referred to as "red" and "black". The players of the sets are referred to as Red and Black, respectively. Each set consists of 9 pieces: one king, one queen, one rook, one elephant, one guard, and four soldiers.

The pieces are set out on a hexagonal board as shown in the diagram. There are only 61 points for pieces' movement.

Pic 1: Initial position, blue pieces referred to Black, bishop-icon piece is the elephant.

The correct positions of the elephant and queen may be remembered by the phrase "queen on the left" ─ i.e. the queen always begins on the left-hand side of the player.

2. How to play

Red moves first, after which players alternate turns, moving or dropping one piece per turn. A piece is moved to either an unoccupied square or one occupied by an opponent's piece, which is captured and placed on the capture side of the table in plain view of both players. Captured pieces are retained in hand and can be brought back into play under the capturing player's control. On any turn, instead of moving a piece on the board, a player may select a piece in hand and place it on any empty point.

2.1. Pieces' movement

The King moves and attacks 1 point in a straight line. (I think it isn't necessary to add the pic in lol)

The Queen acts as the King.

The Elephant moves and attacks 2 points in a straight line. It can hop over pieces.

Pic 2: Elephant's movement

The Rook can move and attack in a straight line from 1 to 3 points.

Pic 3: Rook's movement

The Guard is the most confusing. It can move and attack 1 point in a straight line and then 1 point side-outward (not straight) away (I mean it has to be 2 points far) from its former position.

Pic 4: Guard's movement

The Soldier acts as the Queen, but it can't move or capture backwards.

Pic 5: Red soldier's movement

2.2. Dropping

On any turn, instead of moving a piece on the board, a player may select a piece in hand and place it on any empty point.

3. Openings and evaluation

Yeah... This is the new game, and I don't have so much time to find openings for this game. So, can you help me, please? I can only find 2 openings, and they are on the list:

List of openings

STT Name of openings How many moves will it take? Is it good for Red? Why? / Why not?
1 Left-centred pawn opening 1 Yes Red will get some advantage by taking the centre first and fast-developing.
2 Left-side castling 4 No It's wasting time. Black will get more time to develop, battery up the important lines, wrap more space, and get a huge advantage.

Also help me evaluate the game, please. (:

Cool! So for dropping a piece does it work like crazyhouse where, say white captures black's queen, white can then place that queen as a white queen?

Yes!

You can drop a captured piece on any empty point as your piece.

Another thing:

Pieces' relative value (by Chesscraft):

Soldier: 2 points
Queen: 3 points
Elephant: 5 points
Guard: 7 points
Rook: 8 points
King: Infinity points
