Don't ever take back the pawn as black in the Petrov's. Your opponent has the crushing move 3. Qe2!. Now you have to move your D pawn to defend (moving the F pawn is another way to say "death" and so is moving the knight out of the way because of 4. Nc6+ which loses your queen) and after c4, you lose.
