Custom pieces creator: making people able to create custom pieces will make variants way better, you Will be able to combine 2 or more pieces that already exist  or/and drawing arrows on a board to set custom moves, you will need to add a name to the piece, a description (optional) and a icon (for the icon you can use a Png image or the icon of a piece that already exist) then you can save your custom pieces to edit them or delete or use in a variant.

publishing variants: you will be able to publish your own variants to everyone be able to play.

  1. An interesting idea, but Chess.com will not likely implement this given the possible confusion in others spectating a game with custom pieces, and notation being impossible to replicate
  2. A chess.com official club already exists for this: https://www.chess.com/club/custom-variants;
    Almost all of the variants on the server were made by the community, not the admins, developers, or staff.

Oh Okay, thank you for that information

perhaps they could just expand their current library of pieces

They'd need a genuine need to do so (e.g., to accurately implement a historical variant), otherwise, the library is already big enough as is
