If you were faced with my situation against a 1600 playing really accurately, what would you do? I am asking you because you are a master, NM e4f5

I still consider myself low rated, so take the advice for what it's worth, but it generally works when I play against players lower rated than me.

It's annoying when I'm playing someone and can't seem to find any mistakes to exploit.  My strategy is generally: wait.  Play solid, boring moves, and keep the position complicated.  Try to play in a way where your opponent has to make complicated decisions, and you don't.  Draw out the game.  Don't trade pieces, don't make pawn breaks.  You're the higher rated player - make them come to you.  If you play in a way where playing safe is easy for you and hard for them, you can also put them in time pressure, which will make it easier for you to convert onec the mistake inevitably comes.

Not good chess objectively, but it works wonders. We are all human.

you should think strategically; form a long term plan, which at your level, you should be able to do. look for any weaknesses in his position and exploit them. try to create the Two Weaknesses thing. don't ever play a useless move

BUT WHAT IF HE HAS NO WEAKNESSES

Then you’re just bad ig idk

Avatar of sndeww

You’re the higher rated player. Make weaknesses.

Throw sand in their eyes.  Always works for me

If you are white then I would suggest you do the Italian game. Mostly, it turns out to be a Giucoo Piano Game. Trust me, it is a really good opening because it attacks the f7 pawn.

If you really want to win you must drag him over the abyss. If you are higher rated you are probably better at tactics so get a game that stands on the edge of a knife. Also your opponents could just be underrated.
