My opening of choice

Hey, does someone want to go over this with me?  I have been playing this for a while, but have never really studied it in-depth.  I would love another set (or sets) of eyes to help me.  This was a recent game where it went pretty much how I like it to until the queen move.  I am white, and there are other ways to play it with different moves in different places, but the goal is this pawn structure with a king-side castle.

If it works for you use it! I play the Bird, Dutch variation. It's complicated and easy to attack given the right situation, however, It's all about decoy and disguise and when played properly, it's the ultimate end weapon. most people or players balk at it because of the obvious weakness king side.Easy to attack, likewise, easy to counter attack and close out. It's preferance, your personality will be illustrated on the board and you must play to your strength but recognize and understand your weaknesses.

obviously your opponent did not weigh the risk of an early attack with queen/knight, which would inevitably cause him the knight. Frustration led to resignation for him! You made several wise moves, such as the pawn push to d4 instead of the weak bluff the d3 push would've given to send the knight scurrying back creating a series of wasted moves or blunders.

Your move sealed the fate of the knight by boosting the queens confidence even in the face of an obvious threat. The stickler was the pawn move { fianchettoisc } that sealed the fate of the knight. Risky bussiness as a defensive tool but necessity truly abound as the mother of invention this time. In other words no to games are alike, your foresight, or your ability to adjust will prompt you to make key moves that leads to success, as well as failure...
