My rating goal

Hey everyone! I'm a high school junior who has a semi-ambitious goal: to reach 1800 by the time I graduate. I'm roughly 1350 right now, and while I enjoy studying and doing puzzles on lichess, I don't have a lot of time for chess; I have other interests and other things to do for most of the day on most days. To this point I've been staying sharp by playing daily games, doing puzzles sometimes, and playing the occasional game (time frame being whatever I have time for). How can I, with my limited time, achieve my goal and make the push to 1800 in under a year and a half?

Yeah opening theory is great, i'd also recommend studying endgames and getting as good as you can at practical endgame play. having superior endgame will ensure you can win won positions and enable you to escape with a draw or even win in worse ones. best of luck getting to 1800 happy.png

I recommend your parents to get you a coach.

I am already 1800 so I know what to do.

I probably don’t have the time for a regular coach. I think my best plan is to study on my own when I get a chance.

I just learned about chess365, so I’ll probably be starting to use that.

Only some Chessable stuff is free though.

Super helpful…

I think my main weakness is avoiding game-changing mistakes in the middle-endgame. How can I help get better in this aspect of the game?
