hi ,i think that even if the sistem as been updated it does not matter to me or to anyone else becasue we are still playing chess . the only thing is that most players forget about the playing by checking others in the beggining and expecting the opossite player to get some piece out . i don t think that king of play is fair , i think we should improve our gaming experience by trying to play along the game actually more rather than just killing around the other players. it s chess so we should be playing chess nicely not just for the win by any mean ,that s not winning so that s why in my games i keep making them idiots and trying to push hard my gaming experience towards them because this is how i see the play (to play with the others and not with them (to make fun of them)

I'm just informing the admins that they said they would merge all ratings and this rating they did not. @chessmastergs you've been here for how long? 4 years? me? 1 at least ive done better that most beginners.

This is just personal opinion: But is it not fun to start over again? EVERYONE had their ratings reset. Not just you in particular. The former meta for 2500+ on the hyperbullet leaderboard is now only 2000 in Chaturaji and 1900 in Standard...

Sorry if I offended you, but hopefully you can win some games and maybe get a high ranking

A lot of the defenders of the changes cite how hard the admins worked to make the updates as a way of being dismissive of all the gripes people have with the updates. Yeah they worked really hard to fuck up this game.

Well excuse me for being pissed off that I cant play this game anymore until I get a new computer. My attempts to use different web browsers have failed so far. I really love 4pc and its gone now. A lot of people really hate the updates and I am locked out and the admins dont care, so I dont feel obligated to be nice them. 

Yeah I am the bad guy. I had my favorite game that I loved for almost 3 years taken away suddenly. 

He's unable to play the game ever since the merger happened.  He's tried different browsers but will need a whole new computer just to play 4pc again. 

I really appreciate you standing up for me and trying to help me LosChessquire. I DO have an outdated computer and have needed to get new one for a while, but it still makes me really mad to have the game I love taken away from me. And it is also pretty disgusting to see how dismissive the admins and their defenders are of peoples gripes with the new changes. A lot of peoples experiences of 4pc have been diminished and they don't care one iota. 

I feel your pain man, you're gonna be disappointed when you get a new computer and play the mess 4PC has turned into.  New Standard + Solo system is driving players away on its own. 

4PC deserves an admin team that actually listens to, and implements what the community wants, instead of what they think is best.  

By the way Los, what do you think of 2nd-4th place losing equally? Do you agree with that, or are you with me that that is garbage?

It doesn't make sense that we had a Solo and FFA Rating before, and they turned our FFA rating into a Solo rating.  It's one of the reasons a lot of high-rated FFA games aren't being played as often as before. 

Yeah the people who advocate the solo rating always bring up "you are playing for 2nd". As far as I am concerned,l if you get 2nd, that means you played better than those who got 3rd and 4th. They should have played better. Sometimes you have to fight like hell just to get 2nd. That is why I think 2nd and 3rd should have a rating increase of +- 4-5 from 1-2. 

There have been a few positions where I lost almost all my material except for a piece or 2 and barely managed to stay alive to get 2nd. I had no path to 1st in the games. But according to that jerkoff typewriter44, who has been such a fanatical advocate of the solo rating, if you have no path to 1st you might as well resign in such a position. Yeah, make the games I was talking about less dynamic by just resigning. That REALLY improves FFA. 

Although to typewriters credit he DID bring up one valid point about how there are many games where you get last by having a super passive opposite and how that can seem unfair. My rating went from the 2600's to the 2400's in part because of that just before the merger. 

But all the other drawbacks like how it will make the game less dynamic by early resignation, the fact that you have a 3/4 chance of losing rating points as you mentioned in your discussion thread, and the fact that if someone plays badly and gets checkmated early, they deserve to lose 15-20 rating points are completely ignored. 

None of my complaints about 2nd-4th losing equally were addressed by typewriter, he just kept repeating the mantra that the purpose of FFA is to win the most points. Just goes to show you how the defenders of the changes don't care about messing the game up for a lot of people. 

4PC just changed, and players don't like change. 

Among the majors changes are : 

1/ Less options than before on every levels

2/ New rating set up change, forcing players to play the win

3/ Reduced visibility, harder to set up a game. (Took me 3 days to figure how to set a rated game)

4/ Pseudo separation of variants games vs 4 pc games, meaning that if you play a variant, your game vanishes from the list of regular 4PC where 5 or 6 players were looking for a game, and you become the only player waiting forever to have one player eventually joining your game. (Although it can be fixed by changing the settings, players are not familiar yet, so at this time, your games are nearly invisible...)

Technically, some admins had their preferences, and have now forced every players to play their favorites games with their favorites settings, rather than the ones everybody loved to play.

As a result, I haven't been able to play any games for days, since instead of getting new players, they just lost their player base. It's ok though, give it a year or two, they will have a new player base.

Please, note that you still can play the same games than before, it is just harder to set, it may have change name, and you no longer can play for 2nd, which is a major issue for many players, such as Radon or Joobla to name a few, since they used to play for 2nd, and even worse for 3rd place players that only goal was to kill their direct opponents in order not to be last. Now, they no longer can play this, so they don't want to play anymore. They sulk.

In short,  you no longer can play FFA, they just deleted the game, to replace it by Solo for all, conveniently renamed FFA...

When it ain't broken, don't fix it.

Exactly, we can't win every game, but at least we weren't losing points every game we don't get 1st.  For those who wanted to play Solo which was dead before the merger, they could play Solo, but for the rest of us who enjoyed playing FFA, we no longer can.

This new format favors the players who were weak in the 4 Player stage.

Los, how does it "favor the players who were weak in the 4 Player stage"? I'm kinda curious

I can't view any of the games you posted as the merger prevents me from playing as well as viewing any games. You will have to post a screenshot of any key moments where you think I could have gotten 1st in those games.
