New guy with 2 Q.s ... thx.

Apologies if answers to these 2 Q.s are posted somewhere/pls forgive me if so:

1.  Is the a type of 4 way where the object is to somehow go about capturing the other 3 opponents, not win by generating 'points?'

2.  If so .... what would be the  s-l-o-w-e-s-t  move version of the above, e.g. 3 Day Daily (which may make no sense cause of how long it'd take to complete the Match, given 4 Players : )?

Many thanks,

Sam

Thanks for trying to help me Rwanda;

however, I am not keeping up with you,

i.e., am not understanding how your reply addresses my 2 questions ....

no offense intended ...

am, in fact, appreciative of your thought and time spent trying to help me. happy

1. The goal of the game of 4 Player Chess Free-For-All is to end the game with the most points. You win points by capturing enemy pieces (pawns are 1, knights are 3, bishops and rooks are 5, queens are 9) and checkmating their kings (20 points for each).

2. The maximum time control I believe we have right now is 30|30 (30 minute base time with 30 second increment per move)

Hello Chris (aka Rwanda),

Again .... thank you;

however, my questions are about "4 Player Chess,"

not '4 Piece Chess.'

We do have a P4M rule (Play 4/For Mate), and you get points only from mating players; and theoretical rating change is based off who gets how many points, although this gamerule by itself is no longer rated.

A reason why Last Player Standing isn’t a very practical rule is because it could potentially promote an ultra-Materialistic playstyle (e.g shuffling), which wouldn’t be very fun. Most regular games end with the last person winning anyway.

btw @TheCheeseDuck they’re not asking about how the default game works but if there’s a different option

lol.

Regarding your first question, I don't think TheCheeseDuck quite understood what you asked. The closest version to what you described would be Play-for-Mate (a rule which can be added to any custom game), in which you only get points for checkmating players and nothing else, and you get the most points for the first checkmate, and the least for the last (I believe that the first checkmate of the game = 20, the second = 15, and the third = 10. IDK though but it's something like that). However, the point of the game is still to end up with the most amount of points, but it's closer to what you described than classic FFA (the goal being to checkmate as quickly and as many players as possible, rather than get as many overall points as possible).

It looks as tho TheChessDuck deleted a post (don't see it above).

ChessMaster & Tom - Thank you, re: the educating me on 4 Player Chess / Play-for-Mate.  What is the slowest it may be played?

Avatar of JkCheeseChess

ah oops

Avatar of JkCheeseChess

as I said slowest is 30|30 (also I didn't delete my post, I think it's still there? might be a bug on your end)

TheCheese - Now I see all your above posts.  Thank you.

Is Base Time the total amount of time permitted for the entire Match (with 30 sec.s, max., as you said per each Player Move)?

Sam.

Avatar of JkCheeseChess

30 mins is the base time. You start with 30 mins but you can increase time by making moves and gaining 30 seconds for each move via increment

TheChess - Thank you.
