This looks great!

Will the app be focussed on providing a handy reference tool - or are you thinking of ways for individual users to build/save personal repertoires here also?

Either way, can't wait.  :)

Have not thought of the reference tool. But a good suggestion. I am planning on having a sample of games from each opening that illustrate the principles behind them.

Well, excellent!

Hopefully, this will help bring an end to my long, sad career of choosing openings based mostly on cool-sounding names.  Wink

I spent a lot of time trying to understand de principles behind many openings. This is a work to do with games no with engine (but can help). I like the app idea because is a new concept in iphone chess app

Still hungry waiting for you app ;)

It is in testing now. Trouble porting over pgn's with variations and annotations. Looks like first release will be a "book" on all eco's. This way you can play through all the lines of your favorite openings. The next release would be an app that takes one eco and breaks it down.

Sort of like an Opening book Encylopedia and then a specialized book for different openings.

Stay tuned for more.

Keyif, being a very dedicated iPhone user and chess player, I would appreciate if you could allow me to beta test your software.

Please feel free to send me a PM.

To become a tool yet better, I propose an Idea: What about a dialog at launch time to select de opening file? With different files (your IM file of course, the main), the user can select/create his own opening group, i.e., his repertoire, to study etc.

Thanks for your work, Keyif!

A good idea. I am trying to incorporate pgn importing just for this. You can do your sets in Chessbase or something then import. I think that the software might get out of hand with an editor in it.

This is a great idea Keyif.

For sure this will be a great program.

And a suggestion:

I think it would be very cool if you could include an opening tree too.

Avatar of Keyif

Ok, all. I have teamed up with another Chess.com member and we are moving forward. I had to fire my last programmer as they had done nothing.

Part of the revamping is to bring in new ideas.

We will not only have openings, but tactics, opening blunders, guess the move, chess problems and more.

Expect something very soon.
