Nice sounds fun. Abe is it mostly people just playing blitz and analyzing games or are you trying to coordinate a tournament of some sort?
New OTB chess club in South Metro!

Great question. We're still playing skittles chess (no clock) mostly. Though, many players are now looking to do timed/recorded games in preperation for tournaments in Winter. I thinking hosting rated games is probably a year away (since we just started a few months ago).

Would a lowly middle 1000s player be too outmatched with this group?
Nope. We have players of all levels show up.

Just wanted to pass on a quick note that a new chess club is meeting regularly in the South Metro area on Saturday mornings from 9AM to 12PM (Tapestry Coffee in Lakeville).
So if you're interested in some morning chess, please feel free to join us!

Quick Update: We are meeting at the deck patio of Tapestry Coffee. There's more space from the cash register so things don't get too hassled and it allows us to take advantage of the fair weather before it changes!

Quick update: Club is doing great and already reaching double digits in regular attendance in just a few short months since starting! Come join us - every Saturday morning from 9am to 12pm at Tapestry Coffee in Lakeville, MN.

Hi there - the South Metro Chess Club is set to meet at their bloomington location site for this upcoming Saturday AM! Chess starts at 9:00 AM (to noon). This week, they are located at Nomadic Cafe in the Zawadi Center (1701 American Blvd E, Bloomington, MN 55425).

@Saint_Olaf, is the club still meeting on Saturdays?
Yep! We sure are! Saturdays from 9am (I show up a bit earlier to study a game or two) to 12pm (sometimes this goes on long too) at Tapestry Coffee (20788 Holyoke Ave, Lakeville, MN 55044)

There's a new boardgame type of cafe called Fox Den in B-ville. That might be a good backup for the coffee shop. They've even got private rooms with big tables.

Nice! I'll have to look this place up.
