This summer i had the opportunity to participate in my 1st Int.Tourn.. I liked the all situation, seeing IMs & GMs walking near you and others taking a glance to your game!!! lol! I surely do it again!!!

As long as they don't look at your game and start laughig or making tsk-tsk sounds. Wink

tsk-tsk sounds !!! I hate them! Chess needs calm and concetrate, but how can u do this in case that the boy near u, plays with his plastic bottle?....

Even more, i played a match agnst a chess teacher and look :

i had 2 minutes in my clock and my opponent ( chess teacher !! ) had 8, Near our board, a player started SCREAMING that his opponent took a piece but played another!!!

Fortunately, i found a crashing attack in Queen`s side ( thinking that he played o-o-o ) and won!!

WHY CAN`T SOME PLAYERS RESPECT THE OTHERS???

My experience shows that the crappy behavior of chessplayers is no different than the crappy behavior of people in general. It's people, not chessplayers who are horrible.

Agreed, there's this 13 yr old boy at the general fun tournaments that I go to and he always swears and disturbs players concentrating on their games. He is the only one of his kind in those tournaments so that's the better thing. I hope he stops all this rudeness and learn some decent manners. I still wonder if he has decent parents?

He'll probably never stop. My club has an oaf who shows up sometimes with this same bad behavior. He started like that and thinks that he isn't trying hard enough if he doesn't disturb his opponents with muttered name-calling and swearing and pounding pieces and slamming the clock... It won't change.

Ahh, that's bad news for me! Well, let me hope my fullest that he WILL stop, ok?

The tournament director or the players should start to talk to him about either knocking it off of leaving. If he's not confronted, he'll never change (or at least shut up.

In USCF tournaments, when you need to get the TD to complain, if the TD finds that your complaint relevant, he can award you back time to compensate for having to complain about a dingbat.
