You just need to pay more attention to your defenses rather than just gobbling up material, you let the white queen empty out your back rank and then keep pestering you until you had to give up material (or in your case accidentally walk into mate). just one of those games
Not sure what more I can do!
that last move was not a "mistake" that was an outright blunder. you should have just blocked with the bishop.
We both had less than 20 seconds less, yet somehow he saw it and I didn’t
he might not have seen it at all. it's possible that he was just trying to flag you by checking your king over and over.

This makes more sense. The old verbiage “find checks because one may be checkmate.”
well it's more like find checks because your opponent is low on time, but it doesn't hurt to hope that one of them is checkmate.
I played fantastically against a 946 rated opponent in blitz. I didn’t blunder a single piece, the only “mistake” I made according to the engine was one of my final moves which led me to an amazing checkmate that I haven’t seen in 3500+ games on here, yet somehow my opponent does.
I keep losing games like this. Tough, tough closed positions and I stay patient, don’t blunder, get fantastic advantages and get up big on pieces over my opponent, only to lose to some unforeseen checkmate. It’s like I’m playing some 1600, they just don’t make a single mistake and the whole game it feels like an inevitable checkmate is coming from miles away that I can’t see.
Take a look at my game play. What more can I do? I honestly don’t really see anywhere I played poorly enough to lose to a freak 900!
