gee, who would have known that the guy would swear so that I could /stop-chat?
take a screen grab of the conversation and then report the player who said that to a mod.
they should make a list of pre-approved words:
Hello!
Good game!
Nice move!
etc.

But sometimes if other players want to chat it wouldn't be fair. Let's say maybe chess.com should make it so we can block only one player from the chat if all 3 other players agree.
people who insult/swear should be banned in my opinion, it's not an acceptable behavior
(maybe after 2/3 times a guy gets reported for that)

Definitly.
But sometimes people play so stupidly! How are they gonna know they played horribly wrong if you cant tell them they're idiots? Ok the f-word should be banned but, I don't know if I would ban the trash talk altogether. Personally, I love being insulted, it makes winning taste even better
That is only if you win though. Actually, the people who insult normally are the one's that lose.
Almost every time someone called me stupid, I won the game. This has only reinforced my tendency to act in a way that makes my opponents want to call me stupid!
