Open play refers to a dedicated time for us to get online and play against eachother by manually challenging eachother, which can be done at any time, but is especially encouraged during open play dates. If you wish to join a tournament wait until the next zoom meeting and they might do another tournament then. So far there have been two unofficial tournaments with me and another member as the victors respectively.
