Intriguing I'm not quite that I am a master of it. When I play black against Sicilian I usually play either the classical variation, the Dragon, the Pelikan, or my own bizzare twist of all 3. Supergamer I notice that you are interested in the Ruy Lopez; I am not a fan of most 1. e4 openings. To me a lot of them like 4 knights seem a little dull, boring and white bread. The Halloween gambit I have just discovered seems a little more interesting. If you are looking for a new opening, then Queen's gambit is well safe and solid. Knightlite is right in saying that 1. d4 is a little less dangerous and tactical. I was sceptical of this when I first switched from e4 to d4 (now I am trying out Nf3), but It is most definitely true. Nice slow-paced game, let the tension build up....and then destroy your opponent. King's Indians are also good to check out.
I noticed that somebody mentioned that they played Philidor's Defense. All I can say is be very careful. There are many tricks and traps in that defense, and if you don't know it well, then you will be crushed by white. (Most of the traps revolve around the weakened f7 square and starting a bishop outpost on c4)
Sorry Wesso, I am not very familiar with the Najdorf. I'm happy to give it a go if you challenge me though.
One opening that I've heard alot about recently is the Sicilian Defense Najdorf Variation. This opening really intrigues me, any takers?
