Openings proberly one of the most important part of chess. Play it incorrectly and u will be dealing with a lost position yet play it correctly and u might see yourself to victory without to much effort.

1.Development

development of your pieces is the first step to a winning or a superior position. This is should proberly be one of the 3 most important pricipals to your game along with these listed below

i started my chess career playing this simple and yet successful opening

also please note that that is just an example and could be played differently

2.Centre control

Controling the centre is also a very important part of chess and could also lead to victory and great   initiative.

In postions like that one white can easliy take advantage after a couple of pawn moves and will have a lasting advantage

3. King safety

proberly one if not the most important principles in the opening for a beginner I just added this one because people tent to forget and your opponent can grind out a winning position just by threating the unprotected king the hole time so what i recommend is that u castle asap

This is a screenshot from my database, and it seems that Black already has an advantage after 4. b3?! - it just seems very suspect, based on what White originally is wanting out of the opening.  I can even show you this picture, which shows TONS of playable ideas that White has tried, with good results -

Even the gambit 4. b4!? is totally acceptable, allowing Black to win material at the cost of tempi.  If you are going to teach a beginner how to play the opening, you should offer lines that have been played extensively (in the beginning) that teach classical principles.  You have shown the Italian game, which is a good choice, but the normal lines here (and I would recommend showing the most popular lines at first to show the heritage of the Italian game) involve 4. c3, with the idea of building up a strong pawn center with d2-d4.  Here is a sample game from the history books:
