Do you think white has compensation for this pawn?

No. I hate playing those positions as white.

I'm no expert but I think white can get the pawn back and has the whole center. So for this reason white has the advantage. 

White only gets the pawn back in the e3 lines, with e4 it is a real gambit, which is more like the Smith Morra in my opinion, a bit duboius.

Question: How much opening theory should I know for my main opening if I want to get 1800 ish?

To move 10 in mainline

Unless it's in the Taimanov of something yes

Guys what is the clementz opening for (1.h3)

my grandfather plays 1. a3 and 2. h3 every game. He says the purpose is to prevent bg5 and bb5 pinning the knights in the future but that's bad. It can kind of transpose into a reverse Najdorf i guess

I know the main a4 line, but I was always interested in whether white had compensation in that Slav Gambit position, there are many varying opinions across the internet
