I would say French defense if you don't want Sicilian or caro. e5 is theory loaded and rest are bishop fianchetto which I find useless.
There's also Alekhine def but I think it also has a lot of theory. B1Z plays Norwegian, maybe that's also an option

Typically players seeking a "spicy" opening versus d4 would choose to switch INTO something like the Slav Defense. Perhaps you are playing some tame sideline or something? The Slav has some really sharp and spicy lines to choose from!
If you want something with little theory vs d4 and something "spicy" then perhaps look into the QGD: Cambridge Springs or the Dutch Defense, or something slightly more off-beat.
