i dont really have openings just play what looks and feels good
Opening(s) of Choice
I almost always use a king's pawn game. I'm not sure there is a name for my variation...
1. e4
2. Bc4
3. Nh3
4. Kingside Castle
5. Should my opponent leave the opening, I usually try to advance my queen to f7 for a quick checkmate, otherwise I advance my pawn b3 to free my queenside bishop and backup my kingside bishop. I now have my opponent playing defensive, I have my king castled, and I have my bishops making an effective diagonal barrier.
E4 is awesome and it's what I will play in most of my games. Bobby Fischer was also quite fond of it. I also might pull out d4 every once in awhile. After that I usually develope the knights.
got to go for the radical ruy lopez. sure it has lots of theory, and many variations, but that just makes it more fun :)
I usually play (as White ) the scotch game, sicilian defence open game
(as black) many variations of the sicilian
As white I will play Queen's Gambit against higher rated opponents or just other queen pawn games, e4 usually against lower rated opponents. I usually just play what looks right against lower rated people because they often times don't play book openings and will hang pieces and fall for traps.
As black I will only play the Najdorf or Dragon variations of the Sicilian against e4 and if d4 my main response is Nimzo-Indian Defense.
I am currently in an experimental phase however where I am just playing around with a few different openings such as Bird's Opening and I plan to surprise somebody soon with the King's Gambit.
Just wondering what types of openings you guys like to play. Right now I'm alternating between 1.Nf3, 1.f4 and 1.b3. I like to play with the hypermodern approach and I just find the bird's opening to be intriguing. So which openings do you guys play and why?
