No. Not only is that bad, but that wasn't an option. QID or QGD transposition

sigh

I would prefer Queen's Indian if I was a extremely positional player and also didn't want to learn tons of Queen's gambit declined theory

Nimzowitsch variation with ba6 is my recommendation

and you're going to get a lot of play with c5/d5, bb4+ne4 and f5 (after ne4). Get that light square bind in

Thanks!

I forgot what it looked like, but you'd be getting the same position just a tempo up which is never a bad thing

I think the KID is the best for your level, there are a lot of videos out there on youtube, because it is set-up based and so you don't have to learn theory and you can play it whatever your opponent plays.

I disagree. King's Indian is one of the most theory-intensive openings in chess, perhaps more so than the Ruy Lopez or Queen's Gambit. I reckon by "King's Indian" you're talking more about a kingside Fianchetto and turtling up

Yeah I'm scared of playing the KID there's too much theory for little old me.

At my level you need theory. At yours you dont need much.

you can't survive with no knowledge of a position... your brain literally goes... pop! I'm lost here!

also if you care more about rating than improving, then you won't improve. You don't need to learn theory at your level, especially when your opponents play something random like h4 in the opening. losing is a way to improve
