Not much to tell about me, I love playing chess and feel I can do better then I have. But i am completely confused about how to study and what to study first. End, Middle or Begining game. Gambits, so on and so on.

What books to read and what books will waste my time!

So I need help!!!

Thanks

Tactics, Tactics and Tactics is my approach. Perhaps spiced up with some selfannotated games. I guess playing a lot helps develope skills which is much better to have than knowledge.

For example: It is not much help to be an expert on, say, Ruy Lopez if your opponents throw a dirty sicilian dagger at you all the time!

I agree with farbror:  Tactics!

Chess Kids' lesson page explains the critical Q vs K and R vs K mates. Exeter Chess Club's "Opening rules" covers the essential opening knowledge at your level.
