PC vs Mac board display

If a black pawn is taken off the board, a white pawn appears on the right side of the board.  Is this a glitch or am I missing something.  I thought the removed pieces were displayed.

The pieces shown on the side represent an advantage. I find it confusing.

Thank you.  I was wondering if it was something like that - the white pawn I mentioned above shows that white is a pawn up, I guess.  Yes, very confusing...

Hmmm - i kind-of prefer it as it is, but I've added an option to display all captured pieces to subversion. (Just right-click the board and select "Toggle Material").
