Hey all,

Thanks to all who joined my club, it is greatly appreciated! I would like to start the forums off with a problem I have encountered my last few games, and that is known as the Philidor Defense. It is played after both sides have played kings pawn, and white has played Knight to F3, black then plays pawn to D3. It ends up looking something like this: I need some advice on how to counter this specific situation as white. Please help with any comments, example games, or videos that might be of assistance to me! Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I think you could unleash the light squared bishop to c4 controlling the square and attacking the center

Thats good…. If they play the right moves I might be able to initiate the Evan’s Gambit as well.
