Well I'm from the South. Let me tell you my UFO story. In the constellation of Orion one night many years ago there was a flashing object. I'm always looking up, just a habit from childhood. Well this was interesting to say the least. Not moving at all for quite a few minutes. Went in to get wife, not interested, probably trying to go to sleep. Went back out still there. Went and posted it on FB. This was before I got political and still had many real life friends including a popular astronomy dude in California. No response. Didn't have a decent camera. Don't remember if I tried our small fold up binoculars. i don't remember how long it was there but I would say well over 30 minutes. I gave up. Years later I found online that on rare occasions geostationary satellites may rarely be seen as a flashing non moving object. Found a few instances of it allegedly having happened. Just checked again after writing this. Yes it is remotely possible but no examples came up. Yall can roll your eyes and talk about me now.
Didn't verify if the pilot was from the South and on hallucinogens. Sorry, @Rigelianoid and @stephen_33. You'll have to do that yourself.
