Can you guys play against the computer on chess.com? Looks like my jre is not working here. I'm running Linux Mint Isadora XFCE4. Is there a workaround for this?

you should also make sure that the iced tea plugin is disabled, but I don't believe Mint enables it by default (though it is in the repos).

Thanks for your hints! Smile

Yes, the problem was java-6-openjdk. Don't know why it was there, anyhow I tried to make java-6-sun the default alternative through the Alternatives Configurator, to no avail. So I removed java-6-openjdk and now all works well. I guess that's a bit rough though.

I'm having the same problem myself. I've seen that if I uninstall openjdk a lot of programs that I use will be removed as well. What can I do?

I was missing some of those files, but I've already installed them all, restarted Firefox and still no deal. Not working on Chromium either. Frown

I'm running Kubuntu 10.04, 64-bit.  I found this old forum thread and started piddling around following the ideas in this thread, but I've experienced no joy.

Is the "play against computer" thing even any good?  If its engine is as stupid as the one in Computer Workout, maybe I should be glad to just walk away and forget about it.

It would be nice to be able to use the "finish this game against the computer" feature though.

Fscking Linux.  I hate it.  I just hate Windows even more.
