If they only accept messages from friends, then leave it! You can always ask other people to join your club. Approximately 30 000 people join PER DAY, and there are over 36 000 000 members here! You will always have ample resources to advertise with.
Besides, the main notes are just for chess topics. SOLELY chess topics. It is annoying when people have to click on "*club name* has a new note" just to see you advertising YOUR club.
