finally a post on this lol
Please Stop NCP/WOF Forum Spamming
3. Unnecessary Affirmative
So the person whose pfp I didn't blot out asked a question, and it was answered. Great! No need to reply with Ok, it doesn't add any value to this conversation; by not responding, you automatically convey the message that you understand. If you didn't understand you would ask a question. A question or a request could be answered with an Ok, but in cases like these it's completely redundant.
I believe that's what we call irony. Everyone go make your own star wars irony meme
there is no "please stop" if someone is doing some stupid spamlike things, admins need to give them a warning. It is very annoying.
I never spam.
also if one of your positions has been declined, please refrain from resubmitting that position or extremely similar variations of it
The forum is definitely flooded with that; couldn't we make kind of spin-off and divide between the "general" 4p chess forum and these specific things put APART (that visibly have their fans, but personally I'm fed up with seeing that every day as it's easily 80% of the content)?
Sure, this is a useful post, but judging by the comments after the title... that weren't deleted even after your answer... it didn't help that much. Usually such forums should have moderation possibility to strictly suppress the spam. Or a voting possibility for the usefulness of the comments and if it has -5 f.e. then it will be automatically removed. This system is used by many forums (in particular, sof, if I'm not mistaken).
We CGAs don't especially like to be buried under mountains of meaningless text; it makes it more difficult to see if the author of the position has responded to our recommendations. The following examples of what not to do are mostly just common sense, but I feel like I have to explain it since I see it all the time. So don't do this:
1. Off-topic posts
2. Unnecessary multi-posting
3. Unnecessary Affirmative
4. Long variations
5. Opinion But no Explanation
We love it when people assert their opinions on an NCP or a WOF, it lets us get an idea of what other people think about the position. However, if you don't explain your opinion, it doesn't really help anyone.
6. Super-Lengthy Quotations
Quotes can sometimes be useful for clarity, but really, don't quote the entire NCP submission for no reason, just do @authoroftheposition - <insertmessage>. I don't really want to dig through NCP submissions to find an example of this, but I definitely have seen this before.
So before you post, ask yourself if the forum would be better off without your post, or if your post could be shortened and still retain the same meaning. Simpler is better...
