the bishop will just be moving along the a-h diagonal. If black desides to exchange bishops, then this will be an exciting kings and pawn endings, which is slighly advantageous for black. My opinon only.Money mouth

I actually tried to arrive in this position and won the game but I am curious if White is really winning in this position.

Btw, mahirap i-guess ang last move ng White. My last move was

1. Be1-c3?!

Avatar of Pocamps

Wow, nice position. I only had a quick look but it seems to me that black has the advantage although white has some tricks. Game should be a draw, it seems.

Mainline could be 1... Bd6 2 Bf6 Be5 3. Bd8 Kd4 4. Bb6 Bb8 5. Ba5

I'll check it up a bit more later.

If the Bish are exchanged, black wins easily!

Thanks po.

My opponent played 1... Bd6 and I played 2. Ba5?! and 2... Be5 and I got a winning position.

Avatar of Pocamps

It seems that Be1 to c3 which was your last move was a big mistake. An immediate Ba5 with the Bb6 threat wins the c-pawn and the game!!

Avatar of Pocamps

Ah, he played Be5 instead of Kd4!

Avatar of kidlat1994

Yes sir Isku!! I figure out after I made it!

And that's how i did it since my opponent played 2...Be5 :) so I immediately played 3. Ba5!

But now my question is, if he played 1... Bd6, Is White still winning? because I went for this endgame really thinking that I could win or draw it atleast because of the Bad Black Bishop.

Avatar of kidlat1994

It's clear that I lost a tempo and therefore the diagram leads to a draw.

So I guess I am lucky in the end that he played 2...Be5 :)

This is one most my most instructive bishop endgame :)

Avatar of Pocamps

White is not winning. In fact, black's position has more possibilities but white has the Bb6 trick that keeps the black bishop tied up to the Bb8 defence. White just keeps the black King from infiltration via the c3-square and it should be a draw.

Thanks master Iskubadovsky and prensdepensky :)

I'm still looking at it. Hehehe... it's obvious that the white king can't go to the queenside. If it goes to the kingside with Kf3 when the black king is at d4, the penetration with Kd3 looks fatal. So, it seems that the white king must stay at e2 and be happy with a draw. Smile Maybe black will commit a mistake! Laughing

Bro parang kailangan ng deep thinking nito Surprised wala akong makitang immediate weakness sa White after Rxa4.

Avatar of Pocamps

White's position is so strong that either move is good! I prefer the rook capture because of immediate threat on the a6 pawn which prevents the development of black's stronger bishop. Doubling of rooks on the a-file is there. Occupation of the c-file is also there for the taking.
