I guess that was what kempynus was thinking as well. Laughing

Thanks guys, I was quite pleased with it myself! Laughing I have a bunch of other (10 0 chess.com) BDG games but not sure there are any I like better.

Ba3 comes with tempo but just pushes the Rook to the square he wanted to develop to anyway. But additionally, it helps mobilise the a1 Rook & makes a Queen check at h7 fatal, so maybe it could feature in some other efforts.

BDG Pietrowsky Variation. With some commentary.

Ultraman81

It's a nice game, but not the Lamb variation imo. Lamb variation is 1.d4 d5 2.e4 dxe4 3.Nc3 Nf6 4.f3 Nc6, declining the f-pawn. 4. ..exf3 5.Nxf3 Nc6 is the Pietrowsky Defense as far as I know.

Courtney-P

You are 100% correct.

Nice.  10. Bxh7 game over.

Well it's been a while. I got my blitz rating to 1900, and then came crashing back to reality. I had this pretty epic 12-game set with someone today. We went completely even with 6 apiece. My d4 answer needs some brushing up, and he needs to stop declining the BDG this way.

And here's another, more legit game. Kind of stretching 'miniature' territory but it was the only time he went into the BDG accepted so... there you go.

A Blunderful miniature.

Now THIS is more like it! Been a while since I've seen the Gunderam. I'm always happy to see it though, because it often becomes a Teichmann declined, and that is always good fun.

I played a rapid tournament last weekend... I had 4 whites... one game was 1.d4 Nf6 and since I didn't want to play 2.f3, the game went other route. Two games went 1.d4 d5 2.e4 e6... so no BDG... (not even transposition to Euwe), But I got one Teichmann where I was able to got an advantage very fast:

I remember until this part. I would guess that I'm already winning here, but I haven't check it.

4 Whites? Was that out of five games? Lucky! LaughingYell

I know nothing about the Teichmann 9.Qf3 lines, merely that it's about equally good as the 9.Bg2 route I use. Looks like you're definitely better in that position--probably winning.

Anyway... Here's a Lembergher defense game I just had. Used to hate this defense but I've grown to enjoy it... from both sides. Very very double-edged.

I prefer 4.Nge2... just for higher correctness :-D

Congratulations for defeating a higher rated Cool

(About my tournament: It was 4 games out of 7 games, the rapid tournament started at 10:30h and ended at 19h)

Scheerer likes the Rasmussen Attack a little more.

Stockfish likes Nxe4. I was unsure about the soundness of this line for the first couple years I played the BDG (lost a very painful game to ThrillerFan in this line, and he was quite smug in his usual way about it), but last year I've learned some tactics that have increased my faith in White in that line. Black thinks it has a "gotcha" move but just loses too much time taking on d4 either way.

@TheCurse: Nice miniatures
