I've committed myself to getting as good at chess as possible without learning a single opening.

Thats why you are 600 elo. But its quite impressive to be 600 without knowing any opening

what do you mean by that? I didn't know theory at 1300

scotch game with white, with black I just play the lines of the opponent's opening of choice

Fried liver. I love it so much that I learned every single variation to it. Ulvestad variation, Polerio, Normal and Fritz attack.

the fried liver is not a real opening, it's a trap which if you're going to ask me "so why did hikaru play it"? the answer is it was a speed game and the fried liver leads to sharp positions at the highest level, you will have to choose a different opening when you get better, i'd say go for the scotch gambit if you really like gambits that lead to sharp position and when you get to a higher level, just transition to the scotch game

The Rousseau Gambit (1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 f5?!) is a personal favorite of mine. As White I like to play the Queen's Gambit -- I'm a d4 guy.

the Rousseau is goated

it is my fav gambit for black and completely crushes the italian

yeah the scotch gambit is really good if your opponent now's nothing about it

my fave opening is the queen's gambit
i like how it leads to positional and generally closed games if the theory is followed correctly
i've studied main variations like the Declined, Slav, Chigorin, Marshall, and Baltic
