Here is an easy win for me with a sad mistake of queen pin with rook in the middlegame.

Is the piece sac sound?

Kirkwood

I thought that I played well in this game. I was really trying to focus on controling important squares and finding appropriate outposts for my pieces. Was I successful?

Hi Melik! here i played a kings indian. I won, but i think my aproach in the queenside is a litle slow. What do you think Melik?

Here is a game from my most recent tournament.Time control was 90|30.

[Event "2015 Four States Winter Open"]
[Site "?"]
[Date "????.??.??"]
[Round "4"]
[White "Cannon, Jonathan"]
[Black "Hajiarbabi, Kiana"]
[Result "1-0"]
[BlackElo "1856"]
[Annotator "Cannon,Jonathan"]
[PlyCount "63"]

1. d4 d5 2. c4 e6 {I was happy to see this as its the opening I feel most
comfortable in.} 3. Nc3 Nf6 4. cxd5 {I have never not played the exchange. I
love the Carlsbad structure and I can avoid a ton of theory this way.} exd5 5.
Bg5 Be7 6. e3 c6 7. Bd3 O-O 8. Qc2 Nbd7 9. Nf3 {I decided in this game to go
for a normal minority attack. I was confident from my last two wins, but
caution because she was over 300 points higher rated that me.} Re8 10. O-O h6
11. Bf4 {Normally I play Bh5 but for some reason I decided I didn't want to
exchange DSBs after an eventual Ne4. However, I was immidiately stricken with
fear after I played Bf4 because I wasn't sure what I was going to do against
Nh5... I assumed there must be some reason its playable and finally, I
remember the Rubinstein Trap! and luckily enough she fell for it.} Nh5 12. Nxd5
$1 Nxf4 (12... cxd5 13. Bc7 {The point.}) 13. Nxf4 Bd6 14. Nh5 {I didn't like
Ne2 because it seemed passive and I might want to use that square later. My
plan was to end up at g3 anyway but this game me the option of taking on f6.}
Nf8 {I thought this was best also.} (14... g6 15. Bxg6 fxg6 16. Qxg6+) 15. Ng3
Bg4 16. Rad1 {Preparing to shove in the center.} Bxf3 {Black begins actions to
get her pawn back but I think its too dangerous and leaves her Queen offsides.}
17. gxf3 Bxg3 18. hxg3 Qd5 19. Kg2 Qxa2 {Sadly there is no way to trap the
Queen. So I bring my Rooks to the nearly opening Kindside file and threaten to
build a trap at the same time.} 20. Rh1 (20. Bc4 Qa5 21. Qb3 {I considered
ideas like this but couldn't find anything special so I gave up on this idea
and decied to save Bc4 for later.}) 20... Qa5 {I threated Rh5 when the Queen
might be trapped.} 21. Rh4 {Intending to double and swing the rook over.} Nd7
22. Rdh1 Nf6 23. e4 {Using my center to kick the King's only defender.} Rad8
24. e5 Nd5 25. Rg4 {At first I was worried about Nb5 but then simply Qd2
deflects the problem.} Kh8 26. Qc1 $1 Kg8 {I struggled to find the best
winning line but what I found was good enough.} 27. Qxh6 Kf8 28. Qxg7+ Ke7 29.
Bf5 {In order to cut the exscape route to the Queenside.} Rg8 30. Qh6 Rxg4 31.
Bxg4 Rh8 {She had only seconds on her clock when she gave up mate in 2.} 32.
Qd6+ 1-0

Defeating a player that is almost 300 ELO rating ahead of me. Amazing game from me who is a newly intermediate player beating a player who is over 1600.

In conclusion, this was a great game Vs a much higher rated player. I played very well and hope this will be analysed by Melik! Thanks!

SkepticalYeti25

To add on to my previous post, on page 10, That the time control was 3 days for each side and should be taken into serous consideration for the show, Thanks again, Yeti

Here's a game from a simul with IM Atilla Turzo.  A Benko Gambit!  I luckily remembered a little from the one game I have played against that defense.  I picked a horrible time to castle.  Then recovered.  Then failed to come up with any good ideas.  The time control was 60|60.  I'll be at the show in the case that you choose to review my game.  Thanks

I really really love this game, because 1. I won the game 2. This was played in very very important round for selection 3. this game was very tricky, entertaining, tactical, so many chances for both side, and of course, this game must be good for deep understanding chess position.

But, as black player, i'm not sure why white can't continue his attack?? Until now, i can't find winning line for white ( I do not check computer first)

Thanks GM Melik for your attention and dedication to my game and i hope you'll analyze this one!

I was very startled by the move 4...a6 as this was the first time I had encountered this move in the slav defense.

Thanks for your time and effort in advance!

The analysis I made may not be correct, but this is the best game I have ever played in my life. Although I lost, I am happy with this game, and I hope that I did play it well! Thank you for your time and I hope you liked it!
