Thanks for posting
I should be in bed so will reply quickly.
The position after you won the piece was far from easy, with the queens on the board it will take a long time for you gain an appreciable advantage. (Of course the computer would say it is easy! ) But it is hard to find a concrete plan here to win. Perhaps a more experienced player than myself can shed insight.
But I must ask, did you consider 22. Rxc8 Rxc8 23. Rxc8+ Kh7 24. Rxb7? This should be a win for white after eating up Black's queenside pawns.
Good game to learn from!
Post your games here!
I play alot of bullets and usually i finish really low on time, that's why i really force trades in the end when i am up materials, even if i lose a tempo or a pawn.
Ah yes, bullet can get you into a lot of bad chess habits...
Eh bullet can get you into bad habits, but as long as you make sure you understand what type of chess you're playing it's no big deal. I play bullet chess and I play very quickly and I do cheapos but you'll never catch me doing that ever in rapid or even 5 min blitz games.

I once played exclusively bullet and blitz for years, and the bad habits are still with me...
How do I post a game like as shown above with the moves, players, ratings and result? I just tried and it only showed the final position.

I think you must have tried to copy the FEN.
Go the the game of choice.
Click the "Download" button.
It should bring up a large text wall that looks semi-comprehensible as a game score.
Copy this, and go to the diagram window.
Click "Paste PGN" and paste.
You should have the full game in front of you. ![]()
This was a 15+10 rapid game I played with a friend on here, he challenged me to a live game. Both sides played badly but somehow I won. 😂
Also I don't think I can add notes after posting, or on a tablet ![]()
This was a bloodthirsty game, I think I would have preferred 9. Bd3 instead of 9. Rxe4+. It's simpler that way.
I think it was just lack of tactical awareness from both players. You played 5... Nxd4? which is wrong because of the text; your e4 knight gets grilled by virtue of a pin. (I think the main line is actually 5... Nd6, which has been beaten to death by top GMs.)
Then he played 13. Re2?, ignoring the discovered check. Thus you went from down a piece to up an exchange. (I might have preferred 13. Re5, getting out of Dodge with a tempo.)
21. Qf2? was wrong for multiple reasons. Not only does it hang a clean bishop (which you capitalised on), but it also probably loses if you trade queens. With White down the exchange, he wants to make as many threats as possible, and stay in the middlegame if possible. If it gets to a pawn-pushing endgame, rooks win almost every time. Added insult to injury, you have a passed d-pawn, which you can escort down the board with few issues.
My recommendation, and I'll be the first to say I don't always follow this, though I should, is not to look at the position with an eye to making a move, but with an eye to understanding it. Take a little bit to look at the undefended pieces in the position, take a look at possible tactical themes, even if they aren't immediately relevant. You might be surprised at how many floating pieces and overlooked forks there are, particularly at your current rating level.
Good game, hope you learned something from it.
14. Kf1 is a mistake by him, after 14. Be3 he is fine, blocking the check and attacking my queen. So in essence the discovered check 13. d3+ is a mistake, but worked very well for me thanks to his blunder.
I also have to admit, after he castled I wasn't sure what to do, since I was expecting 4. Bxf6 followed by my 4. dxc6, which I think is the main idea. 4. Nxe4 is fine though, it's apparently called the Rio Gambit Accepted, something I've never heard of. ![]()
Then, stockfish recommended 5. exe4, I wasn't sure whether exd4 or Nxd4 was best. I clearly need more practice playing the Ruy Lopez, both as white and as black.

Here is a game that I played against DeirdreSkye for practice and training purposes. I've made some comments/analysis, and he/she asked that I post it here. I'd love to get some more opinions on this game, so if anyone else wants to comment on my play, that would be great!
This was a 30 min live game I played just now. I actually kind of wanted either 45, 60, or 45+45, but no one was accepting my offer rated between 1000 and 1200 (my rating plus or minus 100 points). So I settled for 30 mins each and quickly got a game. In fairness by the end I still had plenty of time left. I was scared and surprised by the king's gambit, I wasn't sure whether to accept or decline, so I went with e4, the Falkbeer Countergambit. Not knowing the theory I made mistakes in the opening, but it seems it didn't matter against a weak opponent. An easy game, though I made 2 mistakes and a few inaccuracies apparently.
In the new year when I start my blog (similar to Wills, though not inspired by, I actually thought of this before I even knew of this group), I'm hoping to get some 45 minute games, though if not 30 will do, it's far more common it seems. Maybe as well nobody rated 1100 or so wants such a long game, maybe it's more appealing for those higher rated. ![]()
Oh and I just checked. This opponent only joined a week ago, and has played only 8 rapid games, with only 2 wins to 6 losses.

It's hard to get anything over 30 mins in live chess, regardless of rating. I also find 15|10 to be quite common.
Yep, all of my rapid games have been 30 or 15|10. Though I did think that, assuming 40 moves each, 45|45 could last 2.5 hours. I'm not sure if I'd benefit from such long time, 30 or 45 minutes each is probably long enough for me to be honest.
Normal OTB time here in Aus is either 60|30 or 90|30 but no one wants to spend that much time on chess online
At my local club (which I stopped going to, I was only there a few weeks), they played matches that were either 90 mins each, or 80|10. I played one match for the club that was 80|10. I lost, as black, against a player rated about 1200 elo (it was ECF, I think he was about 65 ECF, I had a provisional rating of 50). In fairness, I'm probably a lot better now than I was last year, and I think I only used half my time or so. But I did enjoy it, and we played again afterwards with no clocks and switched colours for fun, and I won. ![]()
OTB experience can be punishing like that; it's almost a whole different game!
I do fear I'd not be good over the board, with all this online chess. Still though, it is fun playing for a club over the board, which is why I'd like to improve and play more competitive matches (at the time I was the weakest at the club, that combined with other reasons was why I left).
What did you think of the game I posted? As I said I was scared by the King's Gambit, but clearly it worked out okay for me. ![]()
This is a forum where you can post any and all games that you've found interesting, instructive, or if you just want to show off.
You don't have to annotate if you don't have time, but if you want to, that's wonderful; it helps everyone when you write down your thought processes.
Let the posting... Begin!
