Problems with the Play Interface

I can't figure out how to Partner someone in a tourney in the new Play interface. I mean, as the tournament begins, I'm assigned a Pard whose rating is similar to mine; but maybe I want to choose a known 1500 player, rather than an 1800 who is new and might play like an 1100.
However one can do it, the Play interface doesn't make it easy.
If they don't fix this (and the Chat-Mute debacle), players are gonna vote with their mouseclicks and find somewhere else to play. This is intolerable.
Maybe we'll all go back to FICS!?

I explained this in notes already but it is kinda complicated

Yes it does. I've done it multiple times.

Okay, so that works.
Any word on how to "unpartner" someone in Play?
Just today, I played in a BugSwiss with a partner. The tourney ended.
Checking my history, I see that I "played" a game with him after the tourney. I'd left the room.
We won the game, because my opponent on my board never made a move. But...jeez. I should be able to leave the partnership and not burden someone with a unresponsive partner.
