Puzzle from My Favorite 3/17/2026 TT Game
Excellent game! I’m curious as to why you traded off a knight and a bishop so early in the game. I usually hang on to my pieces until the middlegame, but you took them off the table in the opening on moves 6 & 8. Also, what prompted you to trade Queens so early in the game?
In a vacuum it’s better to keep the tension and allow your opponent to make a mistake and trade pieces but in this case I was winning a pawn. Even just a pawn advantage and a great strategy is to trade off pieces and utilize that extra material to get a good endgame or allow yourself to “threaten” to trade off pieces; to which your opponent should back off and grant you tempos and/or extra space for your pieces. I like the question, I’m always asking questions when I’m analyzing games like this too
