A bag contains 3 white caps and 2 black caps .. A teacher asks three students to stand behind one another.. suppose 'B' stands behind 'A' , and 'C' stands behind 'B'.... the teacher asks the students to pick a cap randomly from the bag and put it on their head ( the students don't know which cap they are picking) and announces a prize to the one who tells which coloured cap they are wearing... now  'C' and 'B' don't know which coloured caps they are having and they don't answer to the Teachers question .... but 'A' answers it and wins the prize....?  which cap did "A" had...?

no random guesses ... i need a detailed explaination to the solution........ its a pure logical puzzle ,  enjoy it....

to make things clear .... 'A' is in the front , 'B' is behind 'A'   and 'C' behind 'B' .. all are facing towards same direction .... don't get confused or else you'll mess up the ans...

C and B answered white and lost the chance to win the prize. since A knows that there are only two black caps in the the bag and Band C have  wore these so he  certainly has worn the cap of white colour. so A answered white and won!!!

i too won my points!

If 'A' and 'B' were both wearing black caps, 'C' would've known the answer. So either 'A' or 'B' was wearing a white cap (and the other was wearing a black one) or both were wearing white caps.

If 'A' was wearing a black cap, 'B' would've noticed that 'C' didn't answer; therefore, following the line of thought above, 'B' would've deduced that he was wearing a white cap and would've answered the question.

As 'B' didn't answer the question, 'A' is wearing a white cap.

If "A" and "B" were wearing a black cap, "C" would have answered that he was wearing a white cap...

Since "C" did not give an answer, "B" could have deduced that he was wearing a white cap if "A" was wearing a black cap..

Since both "B" and "C" did not answer, "A" can easily come to a conclusion that he was wearing a white cap.

Assumption: "A", "B" & "C" are intelligent people (Like our friends from I luv 2 do Maths group :))
