@tigerofchess33 you are correct

gxf3

kkg5

h4

kg6

f8 promote to knight then either kill the rook or get another check via pawn on the h column promoting to queen well done, when I didn't think to promote a pawn to knight first , lesson learned

Rxb6 would be my first move to simplify and win a pawn. When they recapture with Nxb6, I would then hit with check on black's king by taking on e5 with the knight on g6 forking the king and rook. Black would then capture the knight on the h file to move out of check and then I regain the rook by sacrificing my knight and then still I can promote the two pawns right after the other.

Promoting a pawn makes no difference. Example; promoting either the f pawn or h pawn still leads to checkmate on white's back rank with their next move of Rd1.

The best move is Ne5, all the others make the player run out of checks quickly.

                                           SOLUTION:

You guys were correct. The clue is that you have to keep checking their King to avoid checkmate on d1. Their King doesn't want to go to the f-file or the h-file, because then White will get a Queen. The last move is ofcourse to capture their Rook and win the game.
