The inspiration behind the formation of this group was finding this basic endgame puzzle on TT and seeing how low the pass rate was.

I got this off Tactics trainer. Out of 30 attempts only 9 had passed.

I apologize in advance for an error in this puzzle that I am unable to iron out. It is essentially correct, but at move 3 there is a viable variation that  comes up as incorrect.  I don't know how to make it say "Alternative Correct Move" - the way it does in Chess Mentor.  Anyway, just skip to the solution if it proves too frustrating, because it is instructive in any case.

Speaking of frustrating, I don't know why the comments/hints don't show up unless you're making it play through the moves?

Any one else got puzzles they want to post?

OK. I like the idea of doing some tactics trainer puzzles for the group. I've pinched this off Tactics Trainer, but don't worry I'm not making any money out of it so I can't be breaching copyright - right?

The thing with pawn endings is that all chess players should be able to find the correct moves - and quickly, so when the position comes up in real OTB games they can manage the situation without stress.

Do your level best to solve it in your head before making any moves, this ones' not to hard.

It's trickier than it looks. Try to visualise the moves first, because it'll be very rewarding if you get it right.
