Any statements/assertions made should follow this very simply picture.

These are the rules that every genuine astronomer, or scientist in any field will follow.

What is so rubbish about it, exactly?

Like I said in the notes, it ensures scientific integrity and validity of results.

I have to be frank: that is a very ignorant statement. I do not understand why anyone would be a member of this group and have contempt for the entire scientific world!

Of course you know, as amateur astronomers, that this isn't always, or perhaps even usually, how scientists work. I do not intend by that to belittle the ideas in the flow chart, just to take exception with the actual flow. So much of science, historically, has begun with observation, driven by no specific ideas.

The observations lead naturally to questions, and often then to step three in the chart.
