QG game 5: Karpov defeats lasker defense


lol, I looked up to ...Kc3, but my mind was so automatic in moving the knight that I thought black had the draw (I had only looked at a knight move like Nf3!). Thanks for clearing that up. So yeah, it was a pretty instructive endgame and how white forced a weakness out of black and simplified the position to convert it.
As they say, the threat is stronger than the execution. White gets a small advantage on the c file and this pressure ends up forcing a weakness on black's queenside. Then Karpov methoidcally trades into an endgame and works on both wings to overpower his opponent.
