QG game 5: Karpov defeats lasker defense

As they say, the threat is stronger than the execution. White gets a small advantage on the c file and this pressure ends up forcing a weakness on black's queenside. Then Karpov methoidcally trades into an endgame and works on both wings to overpower his opponent.

I think the knight can hold the position long enough for the win:
This was a really awesome share. I can't believe the level of chess this man is capable of playing at his age (even in 1997).

lol, I looked up to ...Kc3, but my mind was so automatic in moving the knight that I thought black had the draw (I had only looked at a knight move like Nf3!). Thanks for clearing that up. So yeah, it was a pretty instructive endgame and how white forced a weakness out of black and simplified the position to convert it.
