... a 2100 (@anhbao) used it instead of losing a pawn and confused (and scared) me. They lost because they didn't do it early enough

skittles room is the room where you chill in between rounds and talk to other chess players
in 2019 when I went from 1373-1611 in one tournament I caught two dudes talking about age 18+ content from the other side of the room hehe

I would say study openings and basic positional concepts, learn endgames (at the very least learn the simple ones like protected/outside passed pawns etc.), grind tactics, and make sure you're focused when you're playing - don't play if you're sick or tired or don't feel up to it.
