what is a skittles room and why does every otb tournament seemingly have one

The the place where there's 40 people playing bughouse, where half of the adults play pokemon go (bruh), everyone ordering dominos, and obviously the coach who teaches for 5 minutes before giving up

I know this question has been asked a alot but  how can i share one of my games and in wich threads do i post ?

While typing a post, there's a board icon at the left corner of box, insert game from there and click post

If you want to show a nice game you played : post in game showcase thread which is pinned in forums section of the club

If you want your game to be analysed by someone : post in game analysis thread which is also pinned in forums section of the club

what do people at school chess clubs do

I'm gonna join but have no idea what to expect

And I know there's no competition there either tbh I literally adopted the previous tournament winner 10-0 in one class period

all right: in mine in like, grade 4, there were like 3 2000+ FIDE people, and a couple of club players(like me), and like 40 amatures who played trash. simple

Expect some random lesson and it's mostly a way for you to crush noobs the entire time...

I asked this in the opening theory megathread but might as well ask it here too lol

Do you guys think that Guiocco piano main line (c3) is a good opening for beginners? because the knight would have to go to a different square

Knight c3 is bad anyway in the GP because it hinders d4. C3 is great for beginners and teaches you the main ideas.

i guess i might just play d3 like ninja says, i've started to like it more and more nowadays

I learned maneuvering out of accidentally playing the Ruy, QGD (as white) and d3 Italian.

I would say yes because it teaches you that the best squares for pieces changes with the position. Nc3 isn't necessarily the most accurate move there anyway, it's often a lot more useful on g3 or e3

What sort of rating (ish) should one be to start learning/playing the Trompowsky? I have had a look at it and it seems fun, but I was wondering what you people thought

Avatar of DasBurner

imo it kinda sucks

but I don't see a reason to not do it now?

Does anyone know any good endgame books? I have heard that silmans books are good but I was wondering what you people thought

Avatar of DasBurner

I have Silman's endgame book and it's really good

Avatar of BellaAndRosie

Ok thanks! Also what is the best way to use an endgame book, should you try solve it in your head or should you set it out on a board and try solve it like that, or is there another way that is better?
