We should unmute him, he was just having his own opinion, we should respect that. He also wasn't insulting any of us. We only mute people who are saying inappropriate things.

Yes, but that is his opinion. If he hates R2D2, then let him hate it. However, the rest of us loves R2D2 . As a result, he is just gonna ruin his reputation. As a leader you should punish people for reasonable actions.
