often, variants with more randomness will have more evenly distributed ratings, and variants with more skill/less randomness will have a higher distribution of ratings.
This is because in a more random game you always have a chance to lose, and if you are super high rated, you can lose like 50 points if you just get extremely unlucky, but only gain <1 point for winning.
