Questions About Speedrunning for Admins

May as well post this here…

  1. Is Twitch/YT/a streaming platform actually required? It’s not physically possible to cheat in 4PC, especially at faster time controls. Also, what about VODs? They do need to be public, right?
  2. Instead of making multiple accounts, would it be possible for admins to simply reset all ratings on a designated speedrun?
  3. I’ve asked this once and gotten no answer; almost a year ago (https://www.chess.com/clubs/forum/view/should-restart-accounts-be-disallowed). In the world of variants, where rating changes are up to 4 times more dramatic than in standard, what are the admins’ stance on this? Should it count as smurfing? Or is it not bannable as it does not go against the general TOS? And how is it confirmed that one account is actually the same person as another?
  4. Is it required to put your main account’s username in the status? Is this any different for blindfold accounts? (Asking this because I see @EvenBlinderThanB4)
  5. Finally, are “nonsense” speedruns allowed? Like for example blindfold in a bullet time control where it would be impossible to remember the position of every piece.

The admin team have an example speed run account you can base it off of. Just go to leaderboard -> FFA Rapid and watch in real time as they speed run the active player count down!

I was asking serious questions? Take your argument somewhere else.

Why can't we have public alt accounts to play for fun instead of having unnamed alt accounts that are toxic and discourage other players from playing 4pc?

Why can't we have main accounts to play for fun instead of having underrated alt accounts that are stealing rating points and discouraging other players from playing 4pc?

Interesting Conversation.

Honestly, the way things are going, they are the same users who "kill the goose that lays the golden eggs"

There will come a day, when only major world celebrities will be able to use a speedrun account. In simple terms, only serious and professional people in their area.

Is Twitch/YT/a streaming platform actually required? / For me it is not enough to have a platform and/or to be moderately known, more elements must be gathered.

Instead of making multiple accounts, would it be possible for admins to simply reset all ratings on a designated speedrun?/ yes It makes sense, but maybe it's easier to delete all the multi-accounts later.

This has undoubtedly given a lot to talk about, let's hope to reach a quick solution, I have seen some proposals for solutions, but they are not solid enough.
